Larrrochas recordings introduced me the music of my native country. When i received the news of Larrochas death, i tuned in to www.rne.es hoping that the Spanish radio would celebrate her memory. But they disappointed me and (a lot of other Spanish piano lovers too, i suppose). The EMI box seem to b...

My personal favorite Carmen is the one with Andre Cluytens conducting, from 1950 or so. He used the the first version with dialogue, perhaps less complete than the one maestrob mentions, but probably more french than the singing that Frühbeck de Burgos could get from his more international cast (i m...

When We Dance with Sting/Pavarotti. But the list can be long.
Montserrat Caballé and Freddie Mercury in Barcelona is my fav and perhaps the only crossover tune i like.
Both seemed to have fun singing together. Normally "crossover" smells money.

Un Chien Andalou by Luis Bunuel. TWO pianos with rotten donkeys. Luis Bunuel wrote a small part (a scene with a severed hand) of Beast With Five Fingers, but he is not credited. A piano (and a severed hand) can also be seen in Bunuels The Exterminating Angel from 1962.

I have seen Stina Ekblad (who is listed on disc 10) perfoming on stage several times here in Stockholm. A wonderful actress. No doubt the right choice for a narrator in a Sibelius piece.
I know that BIS recorded an earlier version of VC, but it is obviously not included in the box.
