If Merkel respect the traditional German conduct, very soon you'll see the refugees forced to live on concentration camps. And if it the problem gets worst, she'll get rid of them.

I've several signed photos: Gulda, Szeryng, Thibaud, Ricci, Oistrakh, Borovsky, Lewenthal, Karolyi..and one big Heifetz signed on front and back. You see, all of them (and many more) were at least once in Buenos Aires, and played probably at the Colon Theatre. But that was before the barbarians took...

Piston, forget Latin-America. I don't care nor are fan of that music. I'm a citizen of the world and only love European classical. My birth in Argentina was only caused by a very serious mistake of my grandparents, who thought that there they could have a better future. I'll never forgive them for it.

Want to listen to splendid playing of Bazzini, including sonata op.55?. Get Luigi Alberto Bianchi on Dynamic CDS 258. Bianchi was (is) a fantatic violinist and violist who made many recordings of duos with Accardo. But if you want more serious Bazzini, away of his pyrotecnics, get his beautiful, rom...

An extremely sad case was poor Joseph Hassid. He could have been one of the best violinist of the century. His short recorded legacy of 10 pieces are enough to put him at the very top of violin playing of all time. An absolute exceptional artist. (There's a rumor about a live Elgar concerto he playe...

Not me, Lance. Yes, he had a fine technique, thanks to Galamian, but he doesen't move me.
I would be very excited if I can found the unknown recordings of David Nadien, Igor Politkovsky, or the early King David in the 30s and 40s.

Re: Violin enthusiasts rejoice: Mischa Elman's BBC recitals!
I'm not an Elman's fun. It's true that he had a wonderful sound, but on rich and emotional one he can't compite with Seidel nor Hassid. And on technique, he can't with Milstein and certainly never with Jascha. Besides, he had a kind of moaning style that I found unpleasant.

Dvorak's first cello concerto. He left only a piano accompaniment. The orchestration was made by Jarmil Burghauser.Milos Sadlo revised the cello part and made the first recording,
Grieg's second string quartet. He wrote only 2 movements. Julius Rontgen wrote the last 2 on sketches left by Grieg.
