On the DFO discography is named a second version of the second, also live with Richter, August/72, But on LP, not on CD. So your'right. Whorty of mention is the third by Igor. IMO a splendid version. About Vladimir and Nathan, what a pity they didn't recorded any more, or some trio with their old fri...

About Sherry Kloss, she was a Heifetz's pupil and a very warm and good taste volinist. I strongly recommend 2 CD she made, one with Heitez's transcriptiobs and arrangements (many that he never recorded),and the other with short encore pieces, almost all forgotten now, and played wirh exquisite elega...

Yes, I agree. Elgar's is one of the most demanding and difficult v.c. and it had very few recordings if one compare with the other famous ones. You're probably right on Fritz fearing he didn't have the technical comand enough to recorded it with the level of excelence required. My favorites version ...

IMO, Glazunov and Gliere are 2 of the most important romantic russian composers of the first haf of the 20th.century. The symphonic and chamber production of Glazunov is worthwile, and Illya Mourovets is an extraordinary piece. Glazunov's v.c.is a beauty, as his 7 SQ, his S quintet and the suite for...

It is undoubted that until the 80s, men were dominant in the field of violin playing, but there were many great women violinist in the past who didn't get the fame and admiraton they deserve. Yes, I've Ricci with Smith and the previous with his teacher Persinger (himself an Auer's pupil). Both are magnificent. But Smith's had the only recording I've listen to of the Serenata Andaluza, IMHO one of the most extraordinary pieces master ever wrote. Ricci is the last surviving of the great vi...

Bazzini is know only for his famous dance, a classic test of virtuosity for violinists, but he had some charming chamber works. Try if you can his 6 SQ. I don't know if I qualify as a completist, but I've all Brahm's chamber instrumental works on historical versons (meaning from 78 and LP eras). :) :) Meaning, I suppose, that you have the classic Music from Marlboro recordings of the sextets under Casals. I am impressed. Well,no. Have the 2 sextets...

On several occasions I have heard the though expressed* that the Brahms Clarinet Quintet op. 115 is the very summit of chamber music, the very greatest that has been composed in that genre. * (by non-clarinetists no less!) I totally agree. Have 5 versions and every time I listened to it, I admire t...
