A Composer's artistry and popularity. Then and Now

I don't know much about the subject, but I assume like many renouned artists, some of the composers who are loved and respected today were not respected as much as they deserved during their own time. I can't help you with specific recordings or DVD-A/SACD releases. But I would recommend you try Beethoven's other symphonies. You'll love nos 3 and 9.

Beethoven: Symphony No 9
Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 5
Dvorák: Symphony No. 9
Mahler: Symphony No 1
Stravinsky: Rite of Spring
Holst: The Planets

I've been using The Collectorz Music Collector for a few months. Great peice of software, they maintain their own database which is basically a bolstered version of CDDB. They also have some nifty features like outputting to HTML etc. The only shortcoming when cataloging classical music. It's easy t...

I've yet to delve into any of Salieri's music, are there any good recordings of his music? I have seen "The Salieri Album" at my local store, but I think that's the only one I have seen.

Ted, I hope that the presence of Beth Berridge you refer to is her actual performance rather than the early moment of the film where she almost accidentally squeezes out of her costume, and a later scene where she deliberately does. First of all Elizabeth Berridge is home grown hailing from right h...

Those in Hollywood never let the truth get in the way of a good story do they? Amadeus is one of my favourite films. Ofcourse there are so many historical innacuracies that it's almost silly to discuss them. What I feel does come across is a real passion for Mozart's music. The cast are amazing as w...
