The artist is Eugene Delacroix and the museum is none other than the Metropolitan. John you got it-a very big exhibit! The answer is clear. Most Americans think that "the arts" means The Grateful Dead and some things they might see on TV. The excellent film " School of Rock " demonstrates how people have a visceral need for music. It mightn't be our kind, but the popularity of same is far greater than for audiences...

My personal favorite is "Tsar's Bride," which Rimsky-Korsakov composed after hearing Puccini's "La boheme," which inspired Rimsky to compose his opera based on Puccini's style. Brian I found a free youtube with captions. Couldn't determine cast or orchestra on this. Regards, Len /adr4JEa8AzY
