Re: Another incredible episode of What's My Line

Nice, but still more amazing, I think, is something else on Youtube, a 1956 appearance on I've Got A Secret by a 96 year old man who was present at Ford's Theater when Lincoln was shot.

Re: Hungerford Video

I was very happy, last night, to see that two excerpts from Hungerford's 1958 LP have recently been put on Youtube, and recommend people listen to them. They are the C Minor Allegretto of Schubert, and the Busoni transcription of the Bach C Major Organ Toccata, Adagio and Fugue. The Schubert perform...

Re: Is the piano recital dying

Raymond Lewenthal, who was no slouch at the piano (listen to anything he played) said he considered Horowitz, pre-retirement (pre 1953), the greatest pianistic mechanism he knew of. Many pianists disagree with how Horowitz played different parts of the repertoire, but few seem to dispute that he was...

Actually, I believe that three of the four discs in the "Legendary Hungerford" album are from his Vanguard recordings. The fourth disc, with the Schubert Wanderer Fantasy and the Beethoven Concerto No. 4, probably come from the BHMF memorial album.

It came out around 1998, when there were few i...

Hungerford Video

Yesterday, for the first time since he died in 1977, I SAW Bruce Hungerford playing the piano. I agree with the comments of Maestro and John F. That said, it's fine to...
