Picked up these bargain reissues the other. OK the Adagio isn't by Albinoni and it runs to 6:50 as opposed to 11 minutes plus on an other CD I had but I bought the disk for the oboe concertos.
The Shostakovich disk, well, they need time to bed in, especially number 1.

Another gavotte, at least as famous as Bach's, is in Prokofiev's Classical Symphony. I lost my login and couldn't for the life of me remember my username. Then I remembered my avatar was saved on photobucket and the username was part of the url to the image.

Avatar: Yes 2001: No While it's certainly in a different class to 2001 its certainly watchable,and the sets are beautiful- even in 2D ( I can't ever see 3D and to me its a overused gimmick) The plot is so basic a monkey could have written it...of course in 2001 said monkey is integral to the film.....

Scientists make me laugh, or rather the reporters running with the stories! They find what might be a planet and suddenly its Earth II! We just dont know enough-cant know! We dont even know what Pluto is or how Saturns rings were formed! Its all guesswork.
