Re: Now this really is paranoia

Paranoia does not exist. The word was invented by the CIA in 1946 to discredit and undermine critics of its operations and those of the New World Order. Any earlier printed reference to the term only proves the point: it has been planted in fake copies of older books to obscure the true history of t...

Debussy, Rodrigo, different perceptions.

I enjoy Classical guitar music, especially in the ensemble. So, by chance, I have collected eight recordings of the Concerto de Aranjuez. I enjoy them all, and have never been moved to discuss the differences between them. Sometimes the second movement floats, sometimes not so much. Much pleasure, n...

Sarah Moss: Cold Earth (Granta, 2009)

Sarah Moss is a writer and academic, and this is her debut novel. Set in Greenland, it tells the tale of how a group of post-grad students on an archaeological dig become cut off from the outside world, in which a pandemic seems to be taking hold. It is creepy, and has hints of insanity along with s...

The argument that Shari'a law will not become part of Belgian or other European national laws misses a big point. There are already Shari'a courts operating openly here.

I've recently binged on Jefferson Airplane and Yes, also Trout Mask Replica. Perhaps there's not a lot there to interest a Classical music listener. But now I'm immersed in Joni Mitchell's recordings. Many of them show evidence of genius. She's also one of those artists whose output adds up to a lar...

Mrs. Thatcher said: "The problem with Socialism is that eventually you run out of other peoples money". I'm trying to argue that gun control laws will have slow & limited effect. There are plenty of guns in Canada but a small fraction of the gun violence.
