I recently listened to a complete cycle of Bela Bartok. The first two pieces, from around 1896-97, are String Quartets No.1 and No.2.

As far as I know, they always refer to the score. Mine was only radio; but I heard paper rustling. Of course, it could have been someone reading the newspaper.
