Re: short stories

Matt, If you like the works of Bradbury I would suggest a few short story books of his. The Martian Chronicles-It has a central plot that connects all the stories, but they are individual stories comprising the greater whole. The Illustrated Man-A mix of stories told as seen on the body of the man w...

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=128830294 Canadian archeologists have found a ship abandoned more than 150 years ago in the quest for the fabled Northwest Passage and which was lost in the search for the doomed expedition of Sir John Franklin, the head of the team said Wednesday...

Thanks to all for the abundance of suggestions. :D

Found out yesterday that my vehicle needs to go in for repairs shortly so I will be unable to obtain any of these pieces yet, but will definitely keep them in mind and I do plan on listening to some of them in the future.

I avoided beets as a youth mostly because I thought they looked odd.

Upon trying them I have always liked them. I prefer to eat them plain or mix them into a salad.

The music of Britten

For reasons unknown to me I have never really given the music of Benjamin Britten much attention. I like Elgar, Vaughan Williams, and Bax, yet Britten has not really interested me. I only have heard The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra, Ceremony of Carols, and War Requiem. Britten seems to be r...

Piston,

Thanks for sharing. I have always enjoyed these cartoons. As a child they were amusing, but as an adult I see so much more in them as they have references to events of the time in which they were made.

Evening, Matt! I read 4 of Ayn Rand's books years ago. The Fountainhead, Anthem, Atlas Shrugged, and We the Living. They were all enjoyable. The characters would often go on lengthy dialogues that encompassed an entire page, but it was just her writing style and I got used to it. Atlas Shrugged star...

The excessive fouls by the Netherlands caught up to them as a player was ejected. Whilst playing with 10 men Spain was able to score a goal in the last few minutes of overtime.

Re: 2010 World Cup Final-Netherlands vs. Spain

Interesting first half:

The game is quite physical with lots of bodies going down. 5 yellow cards and De Jong should have gotten a red for the his kick to the chest.

I think a low scoring game is more in Spain’s favor, so hope they can stay the course.

2010 World Cup Final-Netherlands vs. Spain

The final game is set for Sunday. After the round of 16 I thought Germany and Brazil would likely meet in the final. The Netherlands played much more aggressively versus Uruguay and I think they have the best chance of winning on Sunday if they play the same way, though I'd rather have Spain win. On...
