The Graupner Christmas oratorio? It´s gorgeous, really beautiful, though like Bach´s it´s a series of Christmas cantatas rather than a proper oratorio, but the music and the performance are extraordinary. Warmly recommended.

Sixten Ehrling was a Swedish conductor Lenny, had a quiet, modest career, but was well liked by musicians. Once had dinner with him. I was surprised to learn he hated Ingmar Bergman.

I have also heard him live and have many of his recordings. Excellent sound, perhaps not as charismatic as Vengerov in his finest years, but superb violinist for sure.

Excellent choice Ted. I also enjoyed the Bartoli´s St. Petersburg recital, more the program than the singing per se, he, he, but it´s a valuable addition to the discography.

I´m not a big fan of Ponce´s piano concerto, his guitar concerto though, Concierto del Sur is a more palatable proposition than Joaquín Rodrigo´s sugary Concierto de Aranjuez.

Leonard Bernstein said that if forced to name his absolutely favorite piece of music it would be the middle movement of the Concerto #17 K.453.

Like Jose, I esteem his Brahms piano concertos highly. He has a pair of discs in the Philips Great Pianists of the 20th century collection, so it is not only we who admire him. I don't disagree that his early work is extremely good, simply that the Philips Series should not be taken that seriously....
