A very, very good book about castrati singers. Filled with historical details. Most enjoyable.

Just want to report that I bought this set, which arrived a few days ago.

I've listened to some of the discs. Though the sound is certainly no match for that of more modern recordings, Oistrakh's artistry was top-notch and often left me speechless.

Just my $0.02.
