Thanks for the very interesting and well-written review, Henry. Hewitt is one of the major pianists I have yet to hear in concert. Bronfman is another, but as he's playing nearby in Westchester County this evening, I may go to hear him.

Yes, it's the Bruch Kol Nidre he is presumably talking about. Never heard it on the viola; that's an interesting concept. But I did hear a wonderful almost 10 year old cellist play it at a concert during the summer. Her performance was as good as that of a very fine adult professional cellist.

Indeed, it is! I even give my piano students assignments to watch great pianists' performances on Youtube.

I've put quite a few performances of my own, and one of Dad's, on Youtube. Will add a Chopin and Schubert work to my Youtube offerings soon.

Heidi Rogers, the owner of Frank Music Company, was a high school classmate of mine, and I'm sorry to see her go out of business. Both her company and Patelson's were very well known, and patronized by musicians.

And I have an uncle who started his career (as a civil engineer) in Elmira, though he has spent the rest of his life since then in the Washington, DC area. Didn't know Griffes was born there. I teach around the corner from a studio named for him at the Hackley School in Tarrytown.
