FIXING THE GAME
Editorial The New York Times December 5th, 2005 The rules of American democracy say every president may install his own team of like-minded people in the government - even at a place like the Justice Department, which is at its root a law-enforcement agency and not a campaign branch office. But the ...

The claim that hiring Iraqi "correspondents" to produce articles favorable to the Bush administration's policies is just like the New York Times producing articles to the opposite effect is absurd. I'd rather have him in Syria, where he can do little harm, than here. That his electoral bids after running for the Louisiana legislature were unsuccessful is true but it should not be forgotten that he was ALMOST elected governor of that state. In fact, the majority of whites voted for him. He lost...

I agree with Lance and Teresa. Any mode of producing music, whether the human voice, or drumming, or any other instrument has limitations in range, pitch and timbre. These limitations are also challenges. For example, the piano is officially (though I hate to admit it!) an instrument where the sound...

The New York Times November 8, 2005 After President Bush's disastrous visit to Latin America, it's unnerving to realize that his presidency still has more than three years to run.
