Taschner was a great violinist, with a superior technique. Very few remember him now. His recording from the 40s.and 50s.are excelent.

I came to enjoy Taschner's art only within the last few years or so when his recordings began to be reissued. For those interested, Bayer Records issued a marvelous 2-disc set [200.053], and there are several recordings on the Tahra label. But probably the best I've enjoyed is a 4-CD set on the Dabringhaus und Grimm label [642.0985]. Taschner also made some recordings with the celebrated pianist Walter Gieseking.
