Musical Quote for Today

"It is better to make a piece of music than to perform one, better to perform one than to listen to one, better to listen to one than to misuse it as a means of distraction, entertainment, or acquisition of culture."
—John Cage, composer/pianist

Vasa Prihoda was one of the best violinist of the first half of the past century. He had a fantastic technique, good sound and a lot of guts, because he played very risky works that very few intent. His own arrengements (like "Zigeunerweisen") are excelent. Today he is almost forgotten, except to specialist on violin history.
