Name that piece...

Hi All,

I'm a newbie to this forum, as well as to classical music appreciation and was hoping that one of you seasoned enthusiasts can help me in identifying the composer for this Ralph Lauren ad piece:

Thought maybe it was a sonata from La Boheme or Madame Butterfly?

Thanks for your help,
Pink

It is the Second movement from Schubert's Piano Trio in E Flat D929 (Opus 100)...also well known as the music for Stanley Kubrick's film 'Barry Lyndon'

This is a piano reduction and played way too slow and not very well in my opinion...many of our members could play this a lot better than the Ralph Lauren Ad...

Chalkie is right. This is how it should sound. Click on the sound bite for the second movement.

It was also used in The Hunger, a beautifully photographed, lushly sexy, and stylish vampire thriller with Catherine Deneuve, Susan Sarandon, and David Bowie. I don't think I ever saw Barry Lyndon - if I did, I was I wasn't impressed with it (I mean really! Ryan O'Neal? That's the best your casting department can do?) But I was very impressed with The Hunger.
