I have her recordings of the Mozart quintet and Weber's concertos. They are outstanding, so that disc goes onto my 'hitlist'. ThanksJared wrote:It would be interesting to hear Sabine Mayer's HIP performance of the Clarinet Conc.. I only have her pairing with Hans Vonk and the Stad. Dresden (again!) which I very muich enjoy..

^^ does anyone know/ remember what the controversy was about her being invited by HvK to work with the Berliner, back in the late '80s? Didn't it lead to a walkout?

Folks: Two more excellent purchases, courtesy of Great Uncle ebay...
and of course... the DVDs I managed to sell on Sunday, to finance them. Unfortunately, I'm slowly running out of spare DVDs and am going to have to think of something else I can start selling...

A very fine set of discs, exemplary performances...Fergus wrote:

This is, understandably, even better played and sung than the recently released Israeli version. A must-have live performance.

I must get that.maestrob wrote:

I think that you should enjoy that one; I have always liked listening to Capella Istropolitana recordingsThumper wrote:

Thank you, Fergus. I bought it chiefly for the Capella Istropolitana; let's hope this W. A. Mozart fellow doesn't spoil my listening pleasure.Fergus wrote:I think that you should enjoy that one; I have always liked listening to Capella Istropolitana recordingsThumper wrote:

Composed for Paris, this is a beautiful Vivaldi cantata Fergus. I first got to know it through a 1978 Fonit-Cetra recording with Lella Cuberli, Siegmund Nimsgern and la Cappella Coloniensis conducted by Claudio Scimone. It was a very good recording for it´s time, though inevitably the Alessandrini recording is now the obvious library choice.Fergus wrote:

Just ordered on pre-release. Apparently it has Neumann's 1970 analogue symphony cycle remastered for its first CD release.
Now someone can tell me that it's been available for years in Japan...
Re: What NEW discs/music are you adding to your collection?
Has anyone heard this? Good reviews and I like the cover.

Orders for this month:
There may be a following order or two, but I think I'm done for the most part.

Re: What NEW discs/music are you adding to your collection?
Did we really not post for a month in this thread, or have we lost something?????
Re: What NEW discs/music are you adding to your collection?
Sorry for the confusion. I'm new to the board and wanted to clarify that these will probably make up the majority of the orders I make this month. Sometimes when I post a large haul like that at other boards I get a response. I was hoping to pre-empt that.maestrob wrote:Did we really not post for a month in this thread, or have we lost something?????

On that note, I decided to get this disc while some cheap copies are still available:Geo Dude wrote: There may be a following order or two, but I think I'm done for the most part.

This is my third integral (along with Foccroulle and Walcha No. 2) so I think I'm set for quite a while.
Re: What NEW discs/music are you adding to your collection?
Bought this out of sheer curiosity and am delighted I did. It's really an outstanding recording by a singer who, I think, has the potential to become a major presence on the vocal scene.
The chamber orchestra arrangements of the songs also worked wonders for me.
