CMG NY meet-up update
Thanks to those of you who have sent me your payment, or have indicated that it's on the way. A couple of you have also indicated that it is not likely you will attend, to which I say, thanks and hope to see you next year.
I supposedly have until the end of the month for a head count, but at this point it is looking like our numbers might be a little short for the private room. Also next week I will be away at the convention of the Organ Historical Society in Pittsburgh (I'll probably post from there but can't do much business).
Further complicating matters (slightly), there is a disconnect between the start time of 5:00 and the much later time when at least two attendees can arrive. Since concerts are not an issue, I would like to put back the start time to 7:00 p.m., and need to know if anyone strongly objects to that. This along with the likely lower head count will make it more likely that I will have to change our reservations to the regular restaurant.
I didn't want to lay such a complicated story on you, but the upshot is that I need to get things resolved sooner rather than later, especially since I have had to put a deposit on the private room. My inclination at the moment is to change the time to 7:00 and pursue the possibility of getting a space in the restaurant rather than the private room. I've had a favorable PM exchange with one cognizant attendee just to make sure I'm not suggesting something completely ridiculous, and now I need to know if anyone has a strong opinion one way or the other that should influence how I proceed. I'll try to reach Gabriel on Monday before I leave to affirm/update our situation.
Thanks for your patience,
John

There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.

Re: CMG NY meet-up update
Speaking for myself, I'd say that I'd slightly prefer a 5 PM beginning, - just because that's what we did before - but would certainly go along if there is a preference for the 7 PM time. On the other hand, perhaps 7 PM is closer to the beginning of the evening, anyway. Let's see how it comes out.

Fine with me, as is any other start time that people prefer. And thanks again for doing all this.jbuck919 wrote:I would like to put back the start time to 7:00 p.m., and need to know if anyone strongly objects to that.

Re: CMG NY meet-up update
Any time is fine with me. I'm getting closer to a decision of making it to NYC and the Meet-Up. There are some complications (doctor appointments and the like) but I still think it's possible. I expect my daughter will be with, and I have another friend and his friend that may go. I'll know more about that in a day or two.
John, how is the COUNT looking at this point? I very much like the idea of our own private room. I have been in touch with Ann and François Mottier, currently at Lake Como, Italy. She is pianist/teacher Karl Ulrich Schnabel's daughter (Artur Schnabel's granddaughter) and both of these people are delightful beyond words. They were with us last year and tell me they will be with us this year if at all possible. So, whatever your count is at the moment, it could be expanded by six more people (including yours truly).

Re: CMG NY meet-up update
The count remains in the 20-25 neighborhood depending on the outcome with the remaining "maybes." Unless there is a sudden mass withdrawal of interest, I'm no longer too worried about the count one way or the other, though I will have to submit a count at the end of June. Any new interest is welcome at least for the next week.
I called Gabriel today and he's fine with 7:00 for a start time and still keeping the private room.
Pending individual PMs, thanks to those of you who sent their checks recently and/or confirmed their intent to attend.
Laid-back and mellow here at Meet-up Central. .

I'd prefer 5; we might have more time to talk that way.

Sorry to respond so late--just back from that Vermont Garden trip--either time is good for us--can't help but think of how noisy the regular room of Gabriel's appeared to us when we looked in. Looking forward to whatever is decided. I had once suggested Arte Cafe as a restaurant choice because we remember they have private rooms. Looking forward to whatever is decided! Regards, Len

Re: CMG NY meet-up update
Since we can't be there until 9PM or slightly after, the starting time makes no difference to us.
Looking forward to a fine event......

Count me in.
I'm available for either starting time, although I can't stay much past 9 since I have to drive back to South Jersey.

What a nice surprise to hear that you'll be there.
Looking forward to seeing you!

I made the change to 7:00 and have sent a PM to jppiano. If anyone else is concerned about this, please send me a PM.
