CMG Meet-Up ... wonderful!

Post by Lance » Sun Jul 11, 2010 11:40 am

I am still in NYC as I write this, reflecting on a MAGNIFICENT meet-up at Gabriel's Restaurant. I would have loved to have spent more time with everyone there but we had our own room with three tables and it's difficult to get around. Still, food was superb, all those in attendance were warm and cordial and I am so pleased. Thank you again to John Brosseau who put everything together despite some a problem with venues. Great job, John! Am soon traveling back to Binghamton. I hope all who took pictures will post them on CMG.

Ditto all of Lance's thoughts, with a modest bow. My first duty is to report the final results for who came the greatest distance. Ready, for this, Karl (Henning, of course)? Terminal to terminal for you and point of departure to point of arrival by car for me is the same down to the mile (215 miles, to be exact). By comparison for Lance, generic Binghamton to the restaurant is 179 miles.

There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.

Just got home, bus ride went quite smoothly (well, one bit of a snarl before we quite cleared into Westchester County, and another as we were approaching Hartford).

Had a great time, thanks to all!

Cheers,

Did you count the mileage I put on looking for parking on the street! Regards, Len :)

We really enjoyed seeing and being with so many of our friends from the forum.

If we had a bit more room, we could have done more mingling, so we should take that problem into consideration for the next meeting.

Thanks to everyone for making it a very pleasant night for us. :D

This was my first meet-up, and I had a wonderful time catching up with those I had met before, but more importantly, getting the chance to meet several of you for the first time. Thanks to John for putting together this event.

Nice to hear the Meet-Up was a success. I regret I could not attend - was away in Maine at a Navy vets reunion through Sunday morning. Maybe next time. Best to all from about 50 miles north-northeast of Gabriel's.

It was a wonderful evening. It was great to see the people I met last year,as well as some new ones.
My friend Richard was delighted to meet every one and talk about musicians and recordings etc. He's a big fan of historical recordings.
The food was absolutely delicious.

Ah Chad, you missed a great time again this year! I've got a whole series of photos taken by the Islers. I'm working on trying to get the photos on our site. Patience, my friend ... patience!

I'm going down the list of intersection between lovely and member and I'm coming up with Charlotte Isler (Evelyn Laden), and (possibly, because I think there was a post from her regarding the meet-up) Anne Mottier. Then there were a few wives and a daughter in the lovely category. For the rest of us, you're going to have to take us as we are.

Yes, jbuck is correct. I am what I am. [We are what we are, good or bad.] Can't be any different I guess.

Well, I'm sorry I missed all that fun.

And to think, if I'd only been able to leave a week earlier, I could have totally won the greatest distance prize. (There was a nice prize, wasn't there?)

But, "Oh, well."

I'll be in New York on the 17th and 18th. Does that count? I could go to the restaurant, you know. Maybe run my fingers along one of the tables. Say "Hi" to one of the servers, maybe, and "No, just looking." Sad, really.

Great picture - great bridge - great borough.

(One wonders why people shy away from using "me" when it is correct - and preferring, incorrectly, to use the pronoun "I?")

A number of reasons, mostly because I really only know Karl. Plus, I am not one for big gatherings.
