Everyone please read: REGARDING ATTACHMENTS!
We are out of space again regarding ATTACHMENTS! Please go back to your posts and REMOVE attachments NOT in compliance with other attachments as described below! We simply do not have the time to take on this responsibility ourselves, so your immediate help in deleting personal photos, etc. is most appreciated.
We hit the wall in server space as far as attachments go a while back, so some folks went back over their postings to remove attachments, especially album art they had to upload from their own computers as an attachment (not album art they linked to from other sources like Amazon). If the attachment isn't a picture of your family vacation, or a relative of whom you are particularly proud, or a photo that you discuss in your posting, we would prefer you not to post it as an attachment. We have limited space on the server for such ornaments and it is quickly consumed. We'd like to save it for members' pictures of family, friends, and vacations, as opposed to the album art that so many seem to feel is vital to their street creds. Again, this is not art that you can link to from other servers on the internet, like Amazon and wikipedia and CD Universe, and the like. It's just art that's uploaded from your own personal hard drive. If you don't know how to link to other sites, just ask Lance.

Okay, could somebody clarify this issue once more. I need more specific info. concerning "attachments."
Is copying the image "property" of a graph, a table, an illustration, a photo posted on a webpage an "attachment"? For instance, would a Time Magazine cover found on Google Image and included in a post be understood as an attachment?
Thank you.

If it is something out of your digital camera, or off your very own computer hard drive and you place it on CMG, it takes considerable space to display it and CMG's doesn't like these types of attachments. If the item you would like to display is from a site, and you discover something you want to show, such as a CD album cover, you go to a site that already displays this graphic, graph, magazine cover, etc. First, in your CMG post click on Img in the live that allows you italicize, embolden or underlin your text. Then go the site that has the item you want to illustrate on CMG and RIGHT CLICK on that image and then RIGHT click on PROPERTIES. COPY THE PROPERTIES and then PASTE all of what comprises that image's "properties" into your post on CMG between . I generally use Amazon-dot-com to illustrate any CD covers. Thus, you are NOW SHOWING any graphic in your CMG post. The graphic only shows up when users are viewing the actual post. The graphical information (properties) thus illustrates the image from the other site. If for some reason the original site deletes their image (eventually many images are gone with the wind) you image will be replaced by a little box saying "image" in it, but there will be no image.
If, for example, I want to show a photograph of Walter Pistion, I go to Google, type in Walter Piston Photos. Usually there are three pictures showing. One of them is a large one. FIRST: double click on THAT photograph. A larger one appears. Right click on the photograph and COPY PROPERTIES, NOT THE PICTURE ITSELF. it. Now go back to CMG's post you were writing, and click on PASTE and the "properties" information is affixed. [If you try to copy and paste the LARGE picture without first double clicking on it, for some reason, it does not "take" and you will have a HUGE length of properties that do not work.] I've copied the PROPERTIES off the enlarged Walter Piston photograph and now paste it one line below:
The photo of Mr Piston should appear above. You can always "preview" the post before you click on Submit. I hope I have not been too elementary or even overly explanatory. You may already know how to do most of this. Any questions, I'll be happy to advise. All the above sounds much more difficult than it is. It only takes a few seconds to accomplish the placement of an image from another site. •

All right, Lance. This is what I have been doing all along. No need to delete then.

Lance, does that mean that album covers taken from Amazon, using tinypic.com are not permissable? Can we keep sig. pics that use the Amazon/tinypic method, my friend?

Any type of photo coming from Amazon is okay to use near as I know. I also use photo pics and album covers from many other sites just by clicking on the properties and placing it between the marks. For the most part, it works very well and doesn't use up CMG's premium but limited attachment space.

"Properties" does not come up when right clicking on a Mac, so one needs to select Copy Image Location instead.

Re: Everyone please read: REGARDING ATTACHMENTS!
I have downloaded no photos because I don't know how to do it. However, I have been thinking of trying to learn how sometime early next year. I have some photos from my own personal collection, notably of my dog and of the Sandia Mountains (the latter serves also as my desktop photo) which I would like to post. I might want to post one or the other as part of my signature.
Now, can I do this if I post these pics on some picture site like Flickr or whatever, and copy them from there instead of my hard drive?

So, I guess that means we won't be seeing any photos from the CMG meet-up anytime soon???The Management wrote:We are out of space again regarding ATTACHMENTS! Re: Everyone please read: REGARDING ATTACHMENTS!
I'm not sure but I think if the photos come in from a place like Photo Bucket, we can still show the pictures because we are using the "Img" feature on our board, and placing "properties" within that. I just haven't yet had the time to send all the Isler photos to Photo Bucket and then make the transfer to CMG. Anyone else who took photos at the Meet-Up is surely welcome to show their photos as well!

I use both Safari and Firefox--it works fine with those two. Which browser do you use?Chalkperson wrote:You must be using a different Browser, I never succeeded at that...Guitarist wrote:"Properties" does not come up when right clicking on a Mac, so one needs to select Copy Image Location instead.

Re: Everyone please read: REGARDING ATTACHMENTS!
Well, I guess I came to the right spot to get an answer I don't like to a question I wanted to ask. I have a blog, Wordpress allows me a utility to upload picture file from my own hard drive, in the body of my post. So, I have developed an extensive library of images. So, I cannot use them here.
But, Oh Yes, I certainly can, and within the rules.
No one here mentioned http://imageshack.com. You upload your image to imageshack and then get the forum link. It is just like using "copy image location".
Here are several examples, all from my hard drive. I personally think that this is a pain and I would contribute money to a campaign to specifically get us enough space to not need to go through this.

ll the pictures I've posted come from my Photobucket account, so they shouldn't effect this site's bandwidth. 8^)
