We have mentioned Membran, who also issues "Documents" and other labels, and Andromeda. I have a huge number of Archipels. I believe most all are "lifted" from LPs, though occasionally you find live performances and rarities among their releases. They are usually available for around $4-$5/USD. Transfers seem decent enough.

I have some Cantelli on Archipel, mostly air checks. Since the source is likely pretty mediocre, so is the disc sound. But they were, at the time, the only source of the performances, many later released in slightly better sound on Music and Arts.

I have downloaded an Archipel album to my ipod, it is available on CD too. It is called "The complete new year's concerts 1952-1954" and it is conducted by Clemens Krauss. I am very fond of it, many of the pieces sound very different from modern performances. They often sound more serious and less like light music. The sound is OK, at least for a download.

Yes, those were originally on Decca-London LPs. I also have them on the Archipel CDs. Really good transfers. You are right ... They did seem more "serious" in those days. The mood lightened year-by-year.
