Re: Gustav Leonhardt RIP
Very sad news indeed. He was both a pioneer and a master musician in the recovery of the XVII and XVIII centuries repertoire. I was fortunate to have heard him live many times, especially in the 80´s and 90´s, and his vast culture and integrity were incomparable.
We all owe a lot to this superb artist.

Re: Gustav Leonhardt RIP
He and Harnoncourt were the first names I encountered on recordings when I went to college and actually had daily access to a good record store. Their performances shaped my interest in Bach.

There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.

I'm sure I would also have gone with the first suitable source, but it is surprising that this journal would have a contributor who uses "As well as" when he means "In addition to" three times. You guys invented the language, after all.Jared wrote:Sorry John, it was all we could come up with at short notice...jbuck919 wrote:(The quality of writing in the Gramophone article does not meet a very high standard.)

Re: Gustav Leonhardt RIP
I will miss his contributions to the wonderful world of music.
But thankfully there are still many recordings available.
May he rest in peace.
