Happy 70th Birthday, Lance G. Hill!
Wishing a very Happy Birthday tomorrow, June 7th, to our friend and colleague, Lance! Hoping he has a wonderful celebration and enjoys many years to come with music, and everything else that is meaningful in his life! And with thanks for the help and encouragement he has given to me, and many other musicians!

Re: Happy 70th Birthday, Lance G. Hill!
I've met Lance, and it is difficult to believe that he is 70 or even close. I also think his youthfulness is reflected in the unabated enthusiasm of his posting on a wide range of listening interests. I half expect to be too jaded to work up that kind of enthusiasm before I'm 60, let alone 70. Then when one considers the vigor required to be a piano technician and classical DJ at the same time, while also maintaining such a great message board, it becomes clear that we're talking about something truly wondrous.
Happy birthday, Lance, and forgive me for not coming up with an image or anything special, because I'm just in awe.
Kind regards,
John

There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.

Indeed!
All the best on your day, Lance. (You don't look a day over 69, you know, I'm seriously!)

Re: Happy 70th Birthday, Lance G. Hill!
What can I say? I am honoured by so many comments and congrats on reaching the Mighty 70th. I cannot believe it myself that I have reached this point. I didn't mind 50, 60 or even 65. But 70!!! I don't feel it, and I attribute to no wrinkles (yet) to my mother, who had lovely, wrinkle-free skin to the end. I have (so far) had a wonderful life in music and many other roads. The other little aches and pains I don't complain about. You know, Gemini people always have at least two roads to go down (the twins) and, fortunately, I have had more than that and they have all given me something special. I love people nearly as much as great music and I have met many wonderful folks and friends right here on CMG! This forum has given us all a vehicle to air our thoughts, likes and dislikes on the music that is important in our lives.
In truth, I have been celebrating my 70th now for about 10 days. I had a surprise visit from my sister, who drove over 900 miles (each way) and it really was a surprise. My daughter came from NYC even though I asked both of them NOT to trek here just for a birthday celebration. This gathering/party was arranged by three musicians/pianists/singers who invited about 30 people for a "two-floor" event. I was "roasted" royally, but loved every minute of it. There was lots of music ... opera, song, and all the rest. I am deeply honoured, to say the very least.
A present from the Mrs. could only be opened on June 7th, though I have been looking at this big box in our dining room since May 4th. It was a Keurig "Special Edition" coffee brewer (which also brews teas, hot chocolate, etc.) using little "pods" (pre-measured miniature cups holding the coffees, teas, etc.) I've wanted one for a year now. At precisely 12:01 a.m. on June 7th, I opened the box, set up the unit and enjoyed my first brewed cup of outstanding coffee. (I refused to wait until the morning.) I could not be happier! (I've recently read where coffee—decaf or otherwise—is now considered good for you. I shall test that out for sure!) Daughter presented me with a huge number of a variety of these little "pods."
So, again, thank you for being there, for all your good thoughts and wishes which I hope will come your way when it is your "turn!"

Lance, Happy 70th Birthday, my friend. I wish you all the best now and in the future. You have provided us with a quality forum and a wonderful gathering place for classical music lovers. You are also a witty and deeply serious guy. It is always a pleasure to read your thoughts and see your eye popping personal discographies of your recordings. May you have many, many more birthdays, m8.
Regards and best wishes,
Mel
