Wishing Anton Kuerti a speedy recovery

Post by slofstra » Fri Oct 18, 2013 10:43 pm

We just saw Anton Kuerti perform here in Canada again last week and he was at his lyrical best performing Beethoven's first Piano Concerto. He performs with the K-W Symphony every 2 or 3 years; it's always an unalloyed pleasure, and he was in great form that night. Then last night this happened at a performance in Florida.

Very sorry to hear this. Hope Mr. Kuerti makes a good recovery. Don't believe I ever heard him perform live in concert but heard some of his recordings. He was a friend of my late teacher, Eleanor Hancock, and her husband, David, so I heard them mention his visits.

This is very upsetting. I have had the pleasure of hearing him in recital several times, and he is one of my favorite pianists. I hope he is able to achieve a complete recovery.

I keep looking for updates in the Miami Herald, but so far (10/24/13), no luck. If anyone has any updated information on his condition, I would be glad to hear about it.

I've scoured the on-line news media, the Globe web site, Facebook and Twitter, and see no updates anywhere.

An absolute favourite of mine, I hope all is better now. I really cherish his Schumann recordings from the '70s/80s, which are a real difficult find these days.

Any more news of Kuerti's condition? I, too, have loved his work from many moons ago and, of course, his recordings.

Nothing in the Google News feed, Lance. I searched for websites that mentioned his name in the last week, and based on this it doesn't appear as though his concert schedule for the winter has been affected. We'll have to wait and see!

Kuerti is one of the world's great pianists and, above his artistry, a marvelous human being.

His recordings are among my most cherished possessions.

Let's hope he is back to good health.
