What A Piano

Post by lennygoran » Fri Jan 22, 2016 5:54 pm

Well we're home now to avoid the blizzard but what a great show we saw at the eastside Met yesterday-artistic furniture of the gilded age-magnificent furniture and stained glass-what a piano! Regards, Len

Your welcome-these days I'm almost getting more enjoyment from the eastside Met than the one at Lincoln Center! Regards, Len :D

I imagine it is literally priceless, but what does it sound like? :)

What on earth is the east side Met, Lenny? Do you just mean the Metropolitan Museum?

There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.

What incredible intricacy. I too wonder how it sounds. Does all that extra weight (as it appears it should have) affect the sonority?

I doubt it's much heavier, but the kind of wood can affect sonority, and I'm guessing this piano's case is made from different wood than Steinway's factory products, chosen for looks rather than acoustics.
