Today's NY Times report on the Grammys does not even include the word "classical." The Guardian doesn't either, but at least it provides a link to the Grammy site where there's a list of the winners and other nominees. For the general public, it seems that classical music isn't even a niche - it simply doesn't exist.

Well, a belated recognition of the late Stephen Paulus. That is almost as much as can be expected of the Grammys, in terms of recognizing Contemporary Music, a realm where they are totally lost if there is no entry under the name John Williams.

You'll be happy to know that I do have the Nelsons Shostakovich X, and it is indeed excellent. As for the rest, until now nothing has drawn my attention to them, so I am ignorant as to the quality.

I am surprised that neither Become Ocean or Magnus Lindberg received awards.
