John Francis 75.

Post by parsifal » Wed Apr 06, 2016 1:41 am

Today John Francis turns 75. The warmest congratulations from somebody who has the great privilege to have him as a personal friend since the middle of the 1960-ies. Go on dear friend, the first 75 are the trickiest, then it turns easier!
Your wit and knowledge are a blessing for all the members of CMG.

Have a great day!

Your friend

Kjell Nilsson.

PS-wish I was in the NYC area today-I'd definitely buy you another ale!

John ... cannot believe it! 75!
You are just a year older than moi! Besides, it is only a number. In any event, I hope you have a most memorable birthday.
It is a distinct pleasure to have you amongst us for all these years. Thank you for being here.

What can I say? With all due respect to every one of our valued posters, there are a special few whose loss would immeasurably diminish the board. I don't know what brought John to us, but it is a Providence to be thanked. He has been not only a friend but for me a teacher as well. Happy birthday.

There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.

Amen to what JB said. Hope it's a super one. :D

Thank you all for your good wishes - it's truly heartwarming. Replying to jbuck919, what brought me here nine years and 16,000 posts ago was all of you as well as others who are no longer with us - the subjects you were talking about and what you had to say. And that's what still keeps me here cluttering up the board, :) that and the new friendships I wouldn't have if not for Classical Music Guide. Long may CMG continue and go from strength to strength.

Have a great one, JF! May music continue to reward you...and may CMGers continue nitpicking and being unruly. :D

Oh, Harris is very senior in every respect. I had the privilege of meeting him at the big meet-up in 2009. He is also an extraordinarily handsome man who at that time anyway had not lost his looks with age. (Not implying any comparison but only intending a compliment to him.)

Wait a second-that's the one Sue and I were at-I have those photos-got him with Lance and one Larry Rinkel--took a look and you're right-very handsome!

My goodness, I'm blushing. :P

Wish we could be at the meeting. Would love to see you all again but since we sold our apt. in NY, only get to the city on a few visits. Luckily, we do get to see Brian and Teresa a few times a year.

Have a wonderful time, everyone.

You will be missed, good friend. Your piano expertise would certainly add to our conversation, should you change your mind, not to mention the deep opera knowledge of your blushing bride! :D
