That is good news! Well-deserved.

Is this a special year in her career, or some other reason why she's their cover girl this year?

No question, she's got the whole "package." I like her playing better than most other pianists I have heard from her native country.

I just bought Tickets to see the San Francisco Orchestra visiting my town here in Southern Taiwan. So little comes this way I didn't even look at soloists or such before getting tickets. Imagine my surprise when I saw it is Yuja Wang. Looking forward to it (Actually, I look forward to anything--don't get to see much!)
Call me Al (cuz its my name)

I don't like the sound of her piano, at least as recorded by DG. To me it lacks distinction. Perhaps her tone is lovelier in concert.

There are dozens if not hundreds of unrecognized pianists in East-coast US conservatories alone who can play rings around her.CharmNewton wrote:I don't like the sound of her piano, at least as recorded by DG. To me it lacks distinction. Perhaps her tone is lovelier in concert.

There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.
