Donald Isler is a classical pianist, piano teacher and recording artist active in Westchester County, just outside New York City. He has worked with students in Irvington, Dobbs Ferry, Hastings, Tarrytown, Scarsdale, Ardsley, Sleepy Hollow and Briarcliff Manor.

His CD's have appeared numerous times in the past year on the prestigious WQXR radio program, "Reflections From the Keyboard." He has lectured on the music of internationally acclaimed 20th century pianist Artur Schnabel at the International Keyboard Institute and Festival at Mannes College, written the Preface for the new edition of Mr. Schnabel's Dance Suite, and been interviewed on the blog, New York Pianist.
He recently recorded a major piano work by American composer Louis Pelosi - his 37 Canons, Inventions and Fugues.

Mr. Isler is the founder of KASP Records, whose CDs include recordings by Constance Keene, Bruce Hungerford, Adrian Aeschbacher, and Mr. Isler’s performances of music by Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann and Brahms, plus little known but important works of Ludwig Spohr (1784-1859) and Artur Schnabel (1882-1951). Among these are the first recordings of Spohr's Piano Sonata and Schnabel's Dance Suite, as well as a performance of Schnabel's Seven Pieces of 1947. Mr. Isler has served on the juries of various competitions, such as the Pre-College Concerto Competition at the Juilliard School, and the Bruce Hungerford Memorial Award panel at the Young Concert Artists auditions. Isler received Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the Manhattan School of Music, majoring in piano. He attended courses at the Diller-Quaile School in New York, as well as the summer seminar in piano technique at the Taubman Institute in Massachusetts.

Tonight’s discussion will include memories of Bruce Hungerford, Robert Goldsand, Constance Keene, and the projects in which Mr. Isler revitalized the work of Adrian Aeschbacher.

Great classical music artists of the early and middle 20th century can be heard again in the Bay Area. KZSU 90.1 F.M., Stanford University’s non-commercial radio station, is broadcasting “The Music Treasury” every Sunday evening from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. (live streaming at kzsulive.stanford.edu). The program features pianists such as William Kapell, Dinu Lipatti, Clifford Curzon, Edwin Fischer and Geza Anda, cellists such as Jacqueline Du Pre, violinists such as Zino Francescatti, Nathan Milstein, Henryk Szeryng and Yehudi Menuhin, and conductors including Arturo Toscanini, Leopold Stokowski, Dimitri Mitropoulos, Wilhelm Furtwaengler and Charles Munch. Host, Dr. Gary Lemco, a music critic and reviewer, reviews CD releases for audaud.com and Bay Area music performances for peninsulareviews.com. His classical music radio broadcasts were heard for many years on FM stations such as WRFG-FM in Atlanta and WHRW-FM at SUNY Binghamton. He also appeared for 15 seasons on WQXR's nationally syndicated, "First Hearing" (a New York City musical review program).

“The Music Treasury” brings to life magnificent performances, many never commercially released, each introduced with commentary regarding its musical content and context. Recordings are drawn from the Stanford University Archive of Recorded Sound, the International Piano Archive of the University of Maryland and Dr. Lemco’s collection of more than 12,000 classical CD’s. Listeners will also be informed about upcoming classical recitals and concerts at Stanford and throughout the Bay Area.
