Philip Glass: Hydrogen Jukebox [opera]

Post by Lance » Mon May 01, 2017 3:04 pm

On April 30th, Tri-Cities Opera of Binghamton, New York, presented their final presentation (of many, mostly to sold a sold out house) of Philip Glass's HYDROGEN JUKEBOX based on the life of poet Allen Ginsberg. I was in attendance. It may not be your everyday "opera," and may not appeal to everyone, but such as it is, singers, musicians (as scored originally) were all first class with Ginsberg portrayed by Bill Gorman.

Here's some publicity/photos on the production: ... 100624336/

When she started to play, Mr. Steinway came down and personally
rubbed his name off the piano. [Speaking about pianist &*$#@+#]
