More Richter. The problem with some/many of his recordings is how many times material has been reissued. Hanssler Classics Profil series now offers a 10 CD set, which includes some of the sonatas twice; additionally her accompanies Nina Dorliac in Schubert lieder, thus illustrating another side of his pianism. However, the Cascavelle label issued a three-CD set [3041] with Richter co-artist in a wide variety of songs including Schubert. Doremi also issued some Schumann with Richter at the piano. I do detest getting so many duplications of repertoire, but generally the Profil label does a good job in remastering and if you have none of this material already via other labels, the price is decent for 10 CDs depending on where you look. The fascination of Sviatoslav Richter seems to have surpassed the legendary Horowitz among collectors. Richter continues to sell, as he well should.

Not sure, but some of this material may be had in the mega-50 CD deluxe boxed set issued by Russian Melodiya a while back.

Hi Brian, I have the Melodiya big box as well, and it's a pleasure to have. Again, I'll be watching to see if the Hanssler Profil 10-CD set duplicates material. I assume you have the big red Melodiya 50-CD set of Gilels as well? These are both very special editions. You manage to keep up well with these releases. Are you out of room yet for storage? If so, join the club!

I have that black megabox, and that's enough Richter for me at the moment. Yes, the contents are from radio broadcast tapes, in decent sound. But, hey, I may change my mind at any moment! :D
