La bonehead
Le don del mar-a-lago

But yes, I agree that this thread, like the subject of its ridicule, is a misfit. Both belong elsewhere.

I've lost track-have we mentioned SESSION's opera Montezuma? I wonder if Trump saw this opera and decided to treat his Sessions similarly to how Cortez treats Montezuma in his opera? Regards, Len

Good catch! Hillary was was accused of everything except being male. So, inspired by Dallapiccola's Il prigioniero, the singing jingoists who intoned "Lock Her Up" must have been blissfully ignorant that the gender fit Manafort to a T.

Might it be that the celebrated "Lock Her Up" chant was inspired by Dallapiccola's Il prigioniero, w/o these singing jingoists being aware that the gender fit Manafort to a T?
That team doesn't care who it ACOSTA's-hopefully there'll be a PRICE for all this when Mueller finishes with them. Trump's imPRUITTence shows up more and more! Regards, Len

Our admired CIC's retirement venue being foretold by two operatic adaptations of Arthur Miller by Benzo Rossellini and William Bolcolm: A View from the Brig.

A View from the Brig.
Missed that one but would love to see it with Trump singing the final aria from a cell! We did see the opera View From the Bridge at the Met-Dec 12, 2002. I'd get you the cast info but the Met Archive Guide is down again:
"The parameter is incorrect. " This is starting to get annoying! Regards, Len

Will this do as a stopgap?

Perhaps this thread has stopped being witty and become what my children called "try-hard" (ie, trying too hard). Of course I had little to offer myself, and hats off to our clever contributors.

Barney mea culpa-I admit I got to the thread late and my contributions were a stretch-still not as much of a stretch as what the real Trump gives us! Regards, Len :(

There is a scene in Werner Herzog's Fitzcaraldo in which rubber robber baron Carlos Fermin Fitzcarald, who fancies himself the harbinger of Western Civilization for Peru, flips out about closing down the church until his opera house is built. Reminded me of a certain madman's MAGA rant about the Wall.

I set the start time on the movie to 22:03. The mad scene runs about a minute to 23:11. http://dai.ly/x10s7b5?start=1323

Anything approaching the change that came over his features I have never seen before, and hope never to see again. He cried in a whisper at some image, at some vision—he cried out twice, a cry that was no more than a breath: “The horror! The horror!”

Thanks, I watched about 5 minutes of this-it really captivated me-I gotta sit down sometime and watch the whole movie-drinking to Verdi and Rossini! Regards, Len :D
