Eric Salzman RIP

There's a name out of the past. I remember reading his reviews in Stereo Review magazine, and when I became a staff announcer at WBAI in New York, Salzman was much in evidence there in various programs, though no longer its director of classical music. (John Corigliano had succeeded him.) He was also a composer, though I didn't know that.

I had never heard of him but I see he was a birder-wonder what he thought about Messiaen's birdsongs? I see there's material of his out there on youtube.

I remember Eric Salzman for an electronic collage he created with Joshua Rifkin and had released on Nonesuch Records called The Nude Paper Sermon. It was most memorable for the spoken monologues embedded in it, especially one that begins "A politician speaks..." at about the 18.57 mark.
