We'll be at NYCO this year but passed on this-otoh we've always enjoyed the guacamole at Rosa Mexicano. Regards, Len


An Opera About Mexico, With a Side of Guacamole

This month the New York City Opera will stage “Cruzar la Cara de la Luna,” Jose (Pepe) Martinez and Leonard Foglia’s opera about Mexican immigrants, featuring mariachi music, at the Rose Theater of Jazz at Lincoln Center. In conjunction with the production, which runs from Jan. 25 to 28, the opera company has organized a discussion with the Mexican Consulate about Mexican culture, mariachi music and immigration, including a demonstration of guacamole-making by Joe Quintana, an executive chef at Rosa Mexicano: 6 p.m., Jan. 22, Consulate General of Mexico in New York Cultural Institute, Octavio Paz Gallery, 27 East 39th Street (Madison Avenue), mciny.org, nycopera.com.
