Tonight's ROH MacBeth

Post by lennygoran » Wed May 09, 2018 11:01 pm

No we weren't in London and it wasn't live. We got an email from the ROH that this Macbeth was being shown HD style at certain theaters in America--turned out that for us there were 2 choices for seeing it-a shopping mall in Allentown Pa where we had never been tonight at 6:30 or a May 30 performance in NYC at Symphony Hall at 1PM-it just so happens we'll be in NYC on May 30 but we decided on tonight because if the weather is good we don't want to sacrifice an afternoon in doors in late May. Anyway it was a very good production with wonderful singing from Željko Lučić,Yusif Eyvazov and Ildebrando D’Arcangelo--Netrebko was sensational! Certainly the best MacBeth we've ever seen! The small theater had 3 other people in it--first time we were in a theater with reclining seats and foot rests! Regards, Len :D

Netrebko was sensational at the MET as Lady MacBeth: no reason she would fail to please London audiences as well. Congratulations on a rare find, Len!

Brian thanks-we'd love to see more operas done HD style from Europe but Gelb doesn't allow theaters offering the Met HD operas to show these. Regards, Len :(
