Rach, I appreciate your posts very much, but I cannot imagine anything more disgusting than the Goldberg Variations on an accordion.

There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.

I don't plan on acquiring the BIS cd. Apparently there are at least 3 other accordion recordings , apparently some listeners enjoy them , and BIS did decide to invest, but a mystery to me as well.

It's not only the sound of the accordion but Bach's writing for two keyboards that make me wonder how this can possibly work. So I sampled an accordion recording on YouTube. Most of the notes are there, but as Dr. Johnson said about a dog walking on its hind legs: "It is not done well; but you are surprised to find it done at all."

Hmm, I used to play the accordion early-on in my life, long ago. I have seen some "stars" of the instrument do some fascinating things with transcriptions and virtuosity. If I told you I played Beethoven's Fifth Symphony on the accordion (all movements), what would say? Hey, if Gould, Badura-Skoda, and Katsaris could play the fifth on the piano (among others) why not the accordion? :) :D :)
