Kaufman is a star in whatever repertoire he performs, from Strauss songs to the roles of Parsifal and Siegmund. This repertoire is not my cuppa, but it's an interesting idea and probably restful for his voice after a heavy summer of Wagner.

I'll bet that Kaufmann has recently done an operetta CD, and his current tour is aimed at promoting it. (No, I haven't looked it up.)

John and I had this conversation a long time ago, but the night I heard a force of nature like Stephanie Blythe sing Fricka in Die Walküre, I learned that she was then headed to London to sing Katisha in Mikado.

There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.
