Violinist Maria Milstein

Post by Rach3 » Fri Aug 10, 2018 5:22 pm

She plays the Beethoven VC August 9 ,2018 live at Concertgebouw with Netherlands Youth Orchestra. A little tentative for my tastes in the first mov., early in the last mov., BUT I really liked her slow mov.:

Can't help wondering if she's a relative of Nathan. The bio gives no clue, one way or the other.

From Maria's sister pianist :

There are a number of musical Milsteins. There is also contemporary composer Silvina Milstein, born in Argentina and now living in England. I do not know if she is related either to Nathan Milstein or the sisters Nathalia and Maria Milstein, but it is likely that her family had emigrated from Russia or elsewhere in Eastern Europe and went to Argentina.

Depends on how one pronounces her name. 'Stine' or 'Steen'

That's obviously Leslie Nielsen pictured playing the violin. I am curious from whence that clip comes from ... can you give me any details or post more on it? Like everything Nielsen did, it's truly humorous!
