He has just released a DGG cd of Bach , with some of the works in this recital. In 2017 , he released a DGG cd of the Piano Etudes of Philip Glass. He has 3 other cd’s, 2009-2012 , per the bio. I have heard none of the cd’s, but enjoyed this recital and may consider the Glass.

Young Icelandic pianist Vikingur Olafsson plays Mozart K.491 with Ulster Orchestra under Rafael Payare , live , earlier this year :

I thought downplayed the darkness , drama a bit in the first mov., but a delightful, interestingly ornamented slow mov. Olafsson finds more light and color in this work than I usually hear with others.

Just reviving this thread to note that Vikingur Olafsson's recent Bach album has won Record of the Year from BBC Magazine. A tremendous achievement, and enthusiastically supported by yours truly! (See my review elsewhere!)

I did acquire his Glass cd. Thanks for the BBC article, apparently BBC like this Bach, too ( I have not heard the cd, just the live as noted earlier here ),and for the chance to see what other recordings BBC liked.

I have Olafsson's Bach disc comprised mostly of transcriptions, and his Philip Glass CD, both on DGG. Here is a superb pianist in every sense of the word. I hope he continues to make recordings for DGG. They have served him well! Both of these recordings offer highly satisfying performances. And what a range of composers! Bach to Glass!!! This man's sense of rhythm and touch are supreme.
