Was not particularly wanting to hear the Chopin Preludes again just yet, but Alexandre Melnikov’s interesting ideas turned out worth hearing. While I did not “agree” with all his interpretative choices ( nor would he mine, I’m sure ) , most of his playing here left me anxious to hear what he’d do with the next prelude, even if he was a bit over-bearing at times.

His richly-layered Scriabin playing was superb ; he may be the leading Scriabinist today.The very brief Op.74 Preludes I believe are the last works Scriabin wrote, Op.74,#5 nightmarish.
