FWW: Obscure piano works

Post by Rach3 » Sat Dec 01, 2018 6:17 pm

Many piano works deserve their obscurity ; these don’t,IMHO. I have not checked, but suspect several, possibly all , of these are at YouTube or Spotify. Weather-bound circumstances here led me to re-visit my hard drive’s I-Tunes files and discover my own neglect of these works.

Janacek Violin Sonata
Gal Violin Sonata
Lilburn 1949 Piano Sonata
Sowerby Piano Sonata
Protopopov Piano Sonata # 2
Carter Piano Sonata
Mennin Piano Concerto
Wiklund Piano Concerto # 1
Mathieu Piano Concerto # 4

I see you enjoy many of the more modern piano works. The one I know pretty well is that of Mathieu. Sowerby I think might be interesting, and the Janacek I'm of aware of as well.

Thanks. On the list, if one wanted to sample just a couple to see if my tastes are compatible, I would suggest in addition to the Mathieu, the Gal violin sonata, Sowerby and Lilburn piano sonatas, and Mennin PC.
