Tonight's Trittico

Post by lennygoran » Thu Dec 06, 2018 1:32 am

Our seats tonight were A109 and A 111-first row center of the balcony-a perfect spot to savor this superb production-wonderful settings for all 3 the operas. In Suor Angelica Opolais was great! As for Domingo as Schicchi I must say I preferred it with Corbelli but Domingo was fine. Len

Opolais is the wife of Andriss Nelsons, of Boston Symphony fame. My doorman's son-in-law is third chair with that orchestra, along with his wife who also plays in the violin section. Opalais sang a love duet with Jonas Kaufmann on TV, and was phenomenal. Then, in the same concert, her husband persuaded her to sing the Liebestod, and she really wasn't up to the piece. Even the most famous make mistakes, and this was one. However, she's still a star in my book, and I wish the MET would telecast this Trittico so I could have her in my library in a role she's perfectly suited to sing.

More grey haired comments, let the Met Rot, it deserves to.

after letting a Paedophiile hold court for decades, obscurity for the institution is deserved.

frig the Met.
