Violinist Augustin Hadelich live

Post by Rach3 » Wed Jan 16, 2019 10:23 pm

A wonderful performance of the Beethoven VC with Kirill Karabits and the Bournemouth Symphony in Poole, patrician, more Heifetz/Munch-like than the overly Romanticized ( eg. Perlman) I seem to hear often these days:

The Kreisler cadenzas ; encore the Paganini 24th Caprice.

For fans of violinist Augustin Hadelich (I’m one ). From the Cologne concert I heard only the Barber VC , also a fav of mine, would usually rather hear the Barber than the Mendelssohn VC.

Enregistré le 7/11/2020 à la Philharmonie de Cologne

Grazyna Bacewicz - Scherzo pour piano, arrangement pour orchestre de Krzysztof Urbanski

Samuel Barber - Concerto pour violon et orchestre, op. 14

Felix Mendelssohn - Symphonie No. 4 en La Majeur, op. 90 ('Italienne')

Augustin Hadelich, violon
WDR Symphony Orchestra
Krzysztof Urbanski

What happened? I tried the link to the Beethoven, but it didn't work, and there's no link for the Barber.

A senior moment?

Would love to hear these, as the Heifetz/Munch is a benchmark for me in the Beethoven.

Thanks!

Unfortunately, the Beethoven VC is no longer available as the archive usually exists for only 30-60 days after original broadcast, here 2019.I do agree about the Heifetz/Munch Beethoven, mine the 50's RCA lp.

As to the recent Hadelich , here is the link:

Sorry, again.I shall have to consider upgrading my wine supply.

There is also at that same link a 2018 solo recital I posted earlier, which has been revived by RTBF, to add to the 2020 German Barber VC:

Enregistré le 10/12/2018 au Wigrmore Hall, London

Johannes Brahms - Sonate No. 1 en Sol Majeur pour violon et piano, op. 78

Eugène Ysaÿe - Sonate en mi mineur pour violon seul, op. 27/4

John Adams - Road Movies

Augustin Hadelich, violon
Charles Owen, piano

Thanks, Rach3!

Very good Barber, and a fine Brahms Sonata I.

Mine the premiere recording of the Barber w/Isaac Stern/Bernstein, also with Joshua Bell in an electrifying live performance here in NY and Nadia Salerno-Sonnenberg & Maxim Shostakovich, now sadly deleted.

The Brahms Sonatas I recommend are by Grumiaux, Szeryng/Rubinstein, Tetzlaff/Vogt, Capucon/Angelich off the top of my head, not forgetting Oistrakh in II & III.
