Pianist Andrew Tyson cd's

Post by Rach3 » Wed Feb 27, 2019 10:46 pm

Andrew Tyson’s Alpha Classics 2017 cd of Scriabin Sonatas Nos.3 and 10, and Ravel’s “Miroirs”. I don’t need an additional recording of any, but may want this one. Not a huge sonority, but a great colorist even with YT sound. Has a wonderful ear for detail while not losing the shape or momentum of the work . Entire cd here; listen to the Ravel and 10th Sonata first on the cd :

His 2014 Alpha cd of the Chopin Preludes :

Same comments as with the other cd, but an even more strikingly individual, original voice.

Both cd’s remarkable.Apologize in advance if you feel otherwise after hearing, but don’t think you’ll waste your time hearing these 2. I may “ need” his Preludes cd. In fact, listen to the Chopin cd first before the Scriabin-Ravel cd, but DO hear both cd’s.

Annoying YT ads, but the ticket price is right ( someone has to pay ).

No apologies necessary! :D I enjoyed about half of the Chopin before the intrusive ads finally frustrated me. Very fine playing IMHO, but I prefer Nikita Magaloff, who has more body to his tone. Also like Samson Francois and, believe it or not, the very individual approach of Ivo Pogorelich. Tyson's not bad, with sensitive playing, just not quite right for me. A worthy contender, nevertheless.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for listening. Yes,YT frustrating. For just samples, I'd suggest Nos.1 and 2 ; 14 thru 17 ; and 21-23 of the Chopin Preludes ; "Noctuelles" ,"Barque" and "Cloches" of the Ravel. (Sorry about any spelling errors .)
