Pianist Paul Lewis live

Very spontaneous , relaxed playing, comforting, refreshing program. Can’t hear slow mov. of the Haydn too often. Pianist Paul Lewis in recital :

Beethoven, 11 Bagatelles,Op.119
Haydn, Sonata Hib.XVI:49
Schubert, Impromptu D.935,#2 and Melodie Hongroise,D.817
Brahms, 3 Intermezzi,Rhapsodie en mi bemol

Encore : 3 Soler sonatas I think.

Agree with your assessment. Paul Lewis is a fine artist. I wish he had waited to record the Beethoven Sonatas (he just wasn't quite ready to handle all the technical demands), but his cycle of the Concertos is very fine, and this recital shows him to be in good form. Interesting repertoire: the Haydn was particularly fine in the slow movement, as you noticed. Thanks for posting!
