Young Swiss pianist Louis Schwizgebel, a pianist I follow , here in a very-well played, unhurried, Saint-Saens PC #5, a guilty pleasure of mine , " crickets on the Nile and a can-can down the Champs d' Elysee " as a friend once described the 5th.With BBC Symphony under MartynBrabbins , an Aparte cd released in 2015:

I have now listened to the piano concerto. Schwizgebel has a light, fluid touch that suits the music admirably, BUT I wonder how much he can change his style to suit, say, Beethoven or Bach. Time will tell, I suppose. Thanks for posting! He has about half a dozen CDs of varying repertoire on amazon: perhaps I'll sample one or two of those.

One of my absolutely favourite piano concertos! Many recordings of this on hand. Especially like Richter's and Jean-Marie Darré's - the latter a fine pianist we don't hear much about anymore. She recorded all five of the S-S concertos for EMI (long unavailable and high-priced on Amazon). Schwizgebel's work is unknown to me.

My introduction to Schwizgebel was a radio broadcast of his wonderful LvB # 4 at the 2012 Leeds Competition, when he was about 22, now at the YT I posted here earlier.

As to the Saint-Saens PC # 5 , you may be interested in a recording on an Arbiter Records cd set I have by Ignance Tiegerman, who moved to and taught in Cairo for years, having been Ignazy Friedman's "best" ( per Friedman ) pupil. Not the best sound( or orchestra) as the recording was fragile tape if I recall, but now at YT:

Cairo Symphony Orchestra
dir. José Ferriz
1963 in Cairo (Tiegerman's farewell concert, age 70 )

The extensive liner notes :

At the end of the notes :
"He was buried in the Bassatine Jewish cemetery ( in Cairo), but refugees from the Sinai Peninsula who came to Cairo after the 1967 war moved into the cemeteries near Ma’adi, often overturning or demolishing the stones, and the whereabouts of Tiegerman’s grave and personal papers remain a mystery." Yes, I have that 4-CD set entitled "Masters of Chopin," on Arbiter 158. I kind of forgot about that one and will have to listen to Tiegerman's recording again. Thanks for bringing that to our attention.
