Previn plays Gershwin

Post by jserraglio » Sun May 26, 2019 5:34 am

Andre Previn had an affinity for George Gershwin's music, as evidenced by his splendid Academy-Award-winning recreation of the music of Porgy and Bess for film in 1959.

Now Buster at the Big Ten-Inch Record site has resurrected Previn's excellent final RCA recording issued early in his career. It has never, afaik, been officially reissued: http://big10inchrecord.blogspot.com/201 ... reups.html

I have many 10-inch RCA LP discs in my collection. Sony Classical recently issued a 55-CD set honoring Previn. Inasmuch as Sony owns the rights to both Columbia and RCA catalogues, it could have done included. While I was not interested in acquiring this set (I have much of Previn on LP and CD already), I might have been interested in this set if that Gershwin recording was included. There would, of course, be many other items of interest that I do not have on CD. Do I understand that the Big Ten-Inch record site is making this music available on a CD?
