Who was pianist Lothar Broddack?

Post by Lance » Sat Jun 29, 2019 11:36 pm

Lothar Broddack made a number of recordings with cellist Zara Nelsova on Decca/London and also accompanied violinist Michael Rabin on occasion. However, I cannot find out any biographical information about the pianist. He seems to have been active in the 1950s. Judging his work with Nelsova, I would ascertain that he was an accomplished pianist.

When she started to play, Mr. Steinway came down and personally
rubbed his name off the piano. [Speaking about pianist &*$#@+#]

The Steinway web site quotes an endorsement from Braddack. It's in German and it's dated 1979. Also, he's taught piano at the Berlin University of the Arts. Otherwise there doesn't seem to be any biographical info online.
