Decided to acquire Jenny Lin’s 2007 Haenssler cd of some of Valentin Silvestrov’s solo piano works, which cd includes the Sonata #1 here. The Bagatelles are interesting, although best in 10-15 minute bites:

Vladimir Feltsman, whose pianos I have prepared for concert, has come forth with a tribute to Silvestrov. It appears on Nimbus Alliance CD 6317. It contains music by CPE Bach, Silvestrov, Chopin, Scarlatti, Schubert, and Schumann. I can say I was not terribly enamored with Silvestrov's music, but may it will grow on one!

Re: Silvestrov piano music
Well, thank you! Being away a month to recharge my batteries was the best thing ever. As they say, we sometimes need a vacation from the vacation. My piano work is in full swing, working seven days this week with not much rest in between. Universities starting up, recitals already being planned, etc. Tough to get motivated to do even just the mundane things! Am happy to be back. Missed all of you!
